The Months

The months of Embris are each dedicated to one of the major gods and often encompass events that are put on by the followers and faithful towards each god during the month.

Mollain [Mole-ain] (March, Start of Year) [Spring]

General Description:

The beginning of the year is generally seen around the world as a time of new beginnings. The snow thaws and people begin to connect once more, new projects and adventures begin to unfold for people across Embris. For many this month both literally and figuratively is the month where the seeds of the rest of the year are sewn. If it turns into a good month some superstitious folks feel that the rest of the year will turn out well. Though many can point to this month as the start of horrid years as well.

Important Events/Dates:

- The First of the Month, Rebirth Festival - On the first day of Mollain Vaikas visits the Material Plane, inhabiting the body of an infant. This begins the Rebirth Festival, where places across Embris celebrate the beginning of the new year with several carnival games and in the Temple of New Beginnings in Howe the baby inhabited is brought and the celebration is most lively.

Eanoir [Ee-noir] (April) [Spring]

General Description:

In the midst of the spring many tend to focus more on the defense and nurturing of their creations as they continue to build them up. Often this is the month where the spirits and mystical creatures of the world become more active. People begin to celebrate their own cultural heritages and history as the winds of change blow through, keeping them thinking about the bright future ahead of them. 

Important Events/Dates:

- The Rift of the Spring Winds, the Third Week of Eanoir - During the height of Eanoir and the midst of Spring, a rift opens into the Elemental Plane of Air. The winds across the world pick up and sweep through the world, moving leaves and flowers to flow through the air. As the winds flow past the crops and those that help to bring life into the world, they are found to be more filled with life, bearing stronger yields at the end of the season.

Aebrian [Ae-bree-ahn] (May) [Spring]

General Description:

As the spring draws to a close the cycle of the year can now truly begin. The first crops finish growing and new ones take their place. The work of the year begins to settle in as people relax into their usual ways once more. Music fills the air as musicians begin to wind up for the summer’s travels and fun, spinning tales to those who toil.

Iondios [Ee-on-deeos] (June) [Summer]

General Description:

As the warm months begin people get into the heart of their projects. Passions flare up as people are inspired to create art, both in the colorful sense and in the inventions of the brilliant minds of the world.

Nuoldios [New-ol-dios] (July) [Summer]

General Description:

Usually the hottest of the summer months. Some of the fiercest battles and wars have been fought through the heat of Nuoldios, many see this as the month where combat becomes more glorious, and believe to die in combat during this month brings honor to their name. Others see this month as that where people need the most aid. As the heat begins to wear on many, doctors and the merciful often go about trying to heal and tend to those suffering.

Important Events/Dates:

- Rift of the Summer Flames, 3rd Week of Nuoldios - During the middle of Nuoldios, and the Summer, a Rift to the Plane of Fire opens up. Across Embris flames begin to burn brighter and get hotter. This in both the metaphorical and literal sense as the battles from wars fought during this time tend to be some of the most major and memorable conflicts in history. During this time the forges of the world are known to produce some of the best crafted armor and weapons of the time. This period is also seen as a time where emotions flare up, passions and love run amok, as well as many tricks.

- Summer Solstice, Khamper (Wed) of the 3rd week - During the longest and hottest day of the year the followers of Leontari that reside on the Precipice of Ferocity hold a global tournament to determine who is the strongest warrior in the world.

Chaldios [Kal-dios] (August) [Summer]

General Description:

Love is in the air in this final month of the summer. As people begin to finish their passions they often look for someone to share it with, and many look for a person or people to give them comfort and companionship throughout the fall harvest, festivals, and the incoming winter. This is also the time of tricks and fun as people begin to prepare for the harvest and enjoy their bountiful produce and take the time to relax.

Fellvembre [Fell-vembr] (September) [Fall]

General Description:

This month begins to mark the change of the year, from the warm and exciting days of Summer to the calming down atmosphere of fall. The leaves begin to change and people begin to reap the benefits of their year’s work. Many see this month as the month that marks the year’s winding down towards the end.

Jandevre [Jan-debvruh] (October) [Fall]

General Description:

Often seen as the month of thanksgiving and reconciliation. Many look back upon the year and think about all they are joyful about, all those they love who are close to them, and what they have done that they are proud of. Others take this time to look forward as well, seeing those they have present the year with and contemplating spending their lives with those people. This month includes many marriages, the births of many children, and many other joyful occasions.

Important Events/Dates:

- Rift of the Autumn Stones, 3rd Week of Jandevre - During the middle of Fall a rift opens at the lowest point in the Material Plane, deep below the surface of the earth. During this time it is said that change comes quickly, fortunes changing, people finding love. The effects of the rift have been debated throughout history, but it is noted that many are brought together during this time, and the same can be said of nature.

- Volandrian Hexadiel, 14th of Jandevre - On this day the people of the Cinder Confederation gather for the Volandrian Hexadiel, a massive tournament between the champions of each province that will decide which Province gets to appoint the Head of State for the coming year.

Nejondevre [Nej-on-devruh] (November) [Fall]

General Description:

As the world begins to wind down once more the final work and preparations for the winter begin. People store food and prepare their houses and businesses to withstand the dry period of both business and activity through the cold. Many take this period to reflect upon the year’s turmoil, what they had persevered through, who had crossed them. 

Hektobr [Heck-tob-er] (December) [Winter]

General Description:

Hektobr begins the winter, the snow beginning to drop in earnest over many places. In this time people seek shelter or to migrate, moving throughout the world to warmer climates and settling with relatives or in new places. Some weather out the initial storms, having been prepared for the winter beforehand and knowing their land is their home.

Yanar [Ya-nar] (January) [Winter]

General Description:

As people settle in for the brunt of the winter they begin looking for activities to fill their days. Many turn to reading and learning about the world around them, some look to the magical energies about the universe and seek to improve their own abilities through it. But throughout the month of Yanar many sit isolated from the world, rarely leaving their house during the cold.

Important Events/Dates:

- Rift of the Winter Rains, 3rd week of Yanar - During the coldest and darkest part of the winter, at the deepest point within the ocean, a rift opens to a place within the Elemental Plane of Water. Often this entails rains falling over the Material plane that help to wash away some of the snow. Many report being able to find previously hidden or lost things during this time.

- Winter Solstice, Khamper (Wed) of the 3rd week - Winter Solstice.


Plavit [Pla-veet] (February, End of Year) [Winter] 

General Description:

As the year comes to its end people often look through the year and question some of the events that went on within it. During Plavit many seek out the answers to questions they have about what has gone on around them. Often they find things they would not want to have learned, wondering if they should have just left these mysteries buried in the snow.
