Kolpati, the Playful

Kolpati

Kolpati was formed with the intent to bring fun and chaos into the world through her tricks. Having formed her in secret, Theras released Kolpati upon the planes, where she began to play tricks on gods and mortals alike. As she interacted with the mortals of the prime material plane, she felt an emptiness in them. For while they continued to toil and survive, they lacked a fundamental distraction from their work. To remedy this, she sewed in them an attraction to one another. The ultimate trick to give them joy and the chaos of love.

Kolpati’s followers often look at things as a game, putting the fun of their tricks and playful attitudes as more important than harsh work and wasting one’s life away through endless toil. Her followers are often known for bursts of passion, flirting and falling in love for short periods of time. Because of this, her followers often clash with those of Fidelée who believe in the permanence of marriage and the long term bonds between people.

Fables

“A man is seen walking along the riverbed, baskets of fruit weighing on his shoulders. He paused for a moment, setting his burden down to take a drink from the water. That’s when he saw a strange little rabbit hopping up to the river and taking a drink. Feeling his stomach growl he moved towards the rabbit before it hopped into the river, submerging itself under the flowing water.

The man sighed, knowing he missed his chance to eat before he had to return to his work. When turned back to the baskets he carried, he found them to be overflowing with sweets. He looked around, wondering where the new bounty came from, but all he saw was the vast forest. Thinking he was once again alone, he knelt next to the baskets and inspected one of the treats before taking a bite out of one, and was overcome with pure bliss. He abandoned his baskets as he ran off to his home, smiling. Once the man was gone from sight, the rabbit re-emerged and smiled, taking a bite of the treats before hopping along the path.”

“There once was a nomadic tribe wandering through a desert. They settled down for camp one night and built a large bonfire to provide warmth for the surrounding tents.

Two individuals sat watch for the night, drifting on the verge of sleep themselves. All of a sudden they looked up to see the flames had turned purple, the smoke above taking the shape of a woman. They looked around in fear and shouted alarms to raise their companions from their sleep, only to see that the field where they had slept was filled with rabbits hopping about in a panic.

The men moved close to each other drawing weapons, looking at the figure of smoke once more, the fire now blazing a shade of teal. The woman in the smoke waved and the men’s eyes shifted back to the fields, realizing that the rabbits were now all staring back at them.

They begged on their knees that the woman would spare their lives; but when one of the men looked up to see the fire returned to normal, his companions stared at him in confusion.

Both men stood quickly in bewilderment and terror, as both the rabbits and the woman were all gone.”
