The Frontier

At the base of the Cracked Peaks on the southern end of Volandran continent lay the Withered Frontiers. For many years the Cinder Confederation had attempted to annex this area in their quest to claim the continent under one banner. But the indigenous peoples of these lands were able to resist. After many years of fierce and often guerilla warfare the people of the Confederation gave up on taking over the Withered Frontiers, and left the people to themselves. In the wake of the long war many battlefields and discarded equipment, encampments, forts, supplies, and various other goods remained to be reclaimed by the locals.

A little over forty years ago, an unusually gifted leader was born in the Withered Frontiers by the name of Yariel.  She was able to unite the various nomadic tribes and amass an organized army; which she called the Witherers.  They made use of the left over equipment and war tools of the Cinder Confederation; abandoned after multiple attempts to conquer or colonize the Withered Frontiers over the past centuries. They scavenged and collected much of this refuse, and were even able to man some of the Confederation's abandoned forts.  The now united and well-armed Army of Yariel's Witherers were able to fortify the wastes, and even launched a counter-offensive into the north. Taking advantage of the slipping Cinder Confederation and crossing the river into Hubranch where they sacked Howe. She kept it as a puppet city, declaring it part of her newly founded nation, which she renamed Yarmehtoo, no longer the Withered Frontiers.
