Precipice of Ferocity

Levanthan resides on the lush mainland of the Precipice of Ferocity, using fishing boats moored at a small dockyard as their major source of food. The island only has a single small city with a few villages scattered further inland throughout the island. The island is able to sustain the small population that lives there, the islanders take pride in maintaining the integrity of the Precipice’s lands. 

A number of the islanders specialize in gathering the unique blooms that flower close to the peak of the Precipice where the lava is exposed.  Levanthan is known for its blacksmithing that takes advantage of the native resources and a coveted technique has been passed down for generations. These finely crafted weapons are valued highly across all of Embris. These blooms as well as other unique produce are the primary source of income for the island’s villagers. Those who have fishing boats also facilitate trade so that they can bring in much needed supplies that can’t be produced on the island, such as spices.

The people of this island are few in number, and many can trace their lineage back to the first settlers of the island after the Great Chill. Islanders are encouraged to leave the island for a few years to find themselves and with the profits from the island’s exports they are sent off with enough money to thrive on their own out in the world. Often the families of the warriors training in the Lionheart Dojo stay at Levanthan throughout their relative’s training period, with some remaining long after their training."

The primary languages of the Precipice of Ferocity are Common and Primordial, with the other major language being Halfling.

The Lionheart Dojo

The Lionheart Dojo exists at the base of the volcano, a small group of dedicated fighters live there, training themselves and others to the best in the world. Each year, at the summer solstice, they host a global competition to find the best warrior in the world, this occurs within the volcano itself, with a ritual beforehand to increase the intensity of the natural lava flows. The winner of the competition becomes the leader of the dojo for the next year, able to set the new rules for the next solstice’s tournament. This often means changing up the weapon each fighter will be using, adding in any sorts of magic, or other limitations and challenges for fighters.

Fire Flux Lotus

The Fire Flux Lotus is a flower that grows alongside the volcano itself, an unique bloom that absorbs the heat from the lava flows to grow, and stores that heat in its petals. Attempts to recreate or replant this flower have been unsuccessful. The flower can be used to increase the flames of a forge to heats only found inside a volcano, allowing for the forging of the strongest metals Embris had seen. These flowers are coveted by the members of the dojo and are tracked quite well, each flower is often sold for several hundred gold, and each plant only grows one or two of the flowers.

The Fire Flux Lotus is also known as the Lava Lotus, Fire Flower, Phoenix Embers, or Warrior's Heart. It is advised that one doesn't consume the flower, due to their ability to absorb the heat from the lava of the volcano. Often the flowers are used by blacksmiths to increase the heat of their forges and produce stronger metals for weapons and armor.
