The Shattered Crease

The Dragon Isle

An island made entirely of snow-capped mountains with very little flatland to speak of. It is inhabited by a civilization of self-governed dragons. The largest concentration of the dragon population of Embris resides here, with many speculating that the dragons of the Shattered Crease were the group from which all of the dragons of Embris came from.  For many generations the population of dragons living on the Shattered Crease were incredibly hostile to foreigners and other civilizations, though they more often than not remain within their isolation.

As time has passed and aspects of Embris have begun to heal after many centuries of hardship, dragons too have begun to reemerge from the shadows in which they were hiding. The population has started on a long road to recovery, and some dragons have even felt so bold as to reach out to civilization and offer their aid. One of these dragons was able to heal Noirtisser from its state of decay, and others have offered their wealth of knowledge to colleges and scholars in Gravitas and Genursh’k.

Others, however, are not so trustful of this new Embris. They choose to remain hidden on their islands, sequestered from humanity and uninterested in its quarrels as they continue to grow their hoards. The Shattered Crease has become even more of a refuge for these dragons, and they have made it clear that visitors are unwelcome.

Many more, still, hold great grudges against humanity for all the suffering they caused dragonkind. In their anger, they lash out, reclaiming ancient territories and razing any settlements that may have grown there in their absence. Some avid hunters have banded together to create groups of dragon hunters eager to bring back the practice. These groups are frowned upon in jurisdictions like Noirtisser, Levanthan, Gravitas, and Genursh’k, but Kearloch, Örndalur, Coralis, and Croit are far more divided on the issue. Madinat Alsafaad finds great glory in the sport, so most sport hunters flock there where such activities are sanctioned.

As of right now, any dragons that live among society either do so in great solitude or in disguise. The world has not yet reached a point where there is a guaranteed peace, and only time will tell what the future holds for dragons.
