Valewind, the Explorer

Valewind

Valewind was originally one of the first humans. While humankind was coming into existence, much of humanity was focused on just surviving and keeping to themselves. The Explorer shirked this ideology, facing the challenges of the world around him with a goal to learn more and seek out new things. He was the first to sail upon the sea. With all his newfound knowledge he was able to help civilization advance to an era of thriving, not just surviving. On his final journey out to sea, the Scholar of Water gifted him godhood, so humanity would have a guide to help them continue their exploration and adventure.

Valewind is the god of exploration, travel, navigation, and storms. He often encompasses the spirit of exploration felt by those who wish to wander and explore the fullness of the world. It is said that he watches and guides every helmsman and navigator aboard ships, and helps compasses to point in the correct direction. Many utter prayers to Valewind when they find themselves lost and in need of help.

Fable

“The old man had set sail many months ago. This was by far the longest he had ever been out to sea. While they always believed in him, the town was starting to worry for his well being. Then one foggy morning, the light of his ship cut through the fog. The people rushed to the docks, their anxiousness replaced with excitement. Valewind always came back with stories of his grand adventures and exotic goods. However as the ship pulled into dock, the ropes of the ship moored themselves as the lantern on the bow extinguished. The excitement of the crowd turned to anxious murmurs, then to silence. All that could be heard was the lapping of water against the hull, the rhythmic slosh of the waves counting down the second. They continued to wait for Valewind to appear on deck, yet he never did.

After what seemed to be an eternity, a young lad hopped aboard the ship. He slowly made his way to the captain’s room. After mustering up the courage, he cautiously opened the door and peeked inside. Nothing seemed out of place. Books and maps lined the shelves and tables inside the cabin, a wealth of knowledge inside of them. Yet on the captain’s desk sat a singular scroll. The boy carefully unraveled it. On it was a map of what seemed to be the entire world, drawn in great detail. At the bottom was a note, 'Take to the seas, and you will find what you are looking for. - Valewind.''"
